How To Build A Community | Brilliant Business Move
The most successful businesses both online & offline know how to build a community, which is a brilliant business move!
Why? Because as a business, you need PEOPLE. Without people, you’re probably not making sales.
Let’s explore a couple ways to build community in both an online business and in brick and mortar businesses.

The Red Rabbit Stratford
This past Monday, Erin and I went to have lunch at The Red Rabbit in Stratford, Ontario. If you’re ever in Stratford, we highly recommend going here, because they have DELICIOUS food!
I got the Chicken & Waffles. Erin got the Macaroni & Cheese.
Both dishes are EXCELLENT & way above par when it comes to affordable, chef-prepared meals. That is to say anyone who appreciates delicious cuisine will most likely love The Red Rabbit!
While there, we were talking with our waiter, Adam (who just so happened to be one of the owners of The Red Rabbit), asking him if there were any openings at the famous Nosh Monday.
Adam mentioned that there was an opening for two at Nosh Monday that evening. In addition, this event is booked until March (about 4 months out), and there is NO WAY that even one of the owners who is a friend of ours, Sean, could get us in!
So we jumped on it!
This is almost an insider’s sort-of occasion where the chefs prepare small plates for the tables. The waiters have no idea how many plates are being served, or even what is being served that night.
The chefs simply push plates out and tell the wait staff which table it goes to.
Totally exciting (and extremely delicious)
How does The Red Rabbit build community?
Being a brick & mortar business, the community is built through being completely down to earth with their patrons.
They truly care about the product they produce and want to make sure to go above & beyond. This results in high-quality food that is so delicious it makes the guests want to tell their friends & family about their experience.
While the table for two opened up at just the right time, Adam told us that they put the opening up on their Facebook Business Page so that all their fans will be alerted that this coveted spot is available.
We feel sooo fortunate that we got into this weekly event & that we’re part of The Red Rabbit Community!
Building A Community Of People
Learning how to build a community of people is not rocket science, per se… It’s more about connecting an idea with a need (or want).
When you position yourself to solve a problem, provide a reliever to a pain, focus on answering questions or even mix those three things all together, you’re on to something!
A community of people is simply a gathering of people who share a common belief, they are all on the same mission, or they are all going on a similar journey.
Communities are built when there’s a leader, a guide, or a group of people all beating a drum and other people hear that drum… They see other people all following the drumline and they want to be part of something too (or be left behind).
In the case of The Red Rabbit, their website shows that they are:
Owned by the workers.
Run by the workers.
Shared by the community.

They are building a community of people who all want delicious food that is creatively engineered to make your taste buds go wild! The community is also attracted to the ambiance and how the friendly staff makes you feel like old friends within minutes.

How To Build A Community Online
In the case of business online, building a community around a product or service is exactly the same as a restaurant or any other brick & mortar business… but online!
The idea is the same.
You have a product or service that helps people out in some way.
- Solve a problem
- BE a pain reliever
- Answer questions
Problems in the online space are things like what are good business ideas for couples? (Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest ones, but the problem is coming up with them!)
Pains in the online space can be something as simple as how do I start a website & blog & get paid? (because we all know that if you don’t know what you’re doing, it can be a pain to start a website & blog for your business online)
Answers to online business questions can be received in the Exclusive Tribe For Entrepreneurs. (It’s nice to BE part of a community where you can get your questions answered as you’re building your business online).
Building A Community can be FREE or it can be PAID
The free communities are things like forums, public groups on Facebook, or even comment threads on YouTube (Subscribe to our YouTube channel to BE part of the community!)
In a free community, like our Facebook Business Page, you can expect to get more general knowledge to help you out. This community format is a great way to get to know other people who are on the same path.
An upgrade to free communities are paid communities like the BEAP Exclusive Tribe For Entrepreneurs. The reason why communities may have a paid membership is that the guides & leaders spend more time there and get to know who the members are more intimately.
Paid communities generally get perks over & beyond what free communities receive. This is more of an exclusive environment because of that.
In the example of the BEAP Exclusive Tribe, all of our Tribers get access to our entire eCourse Library that walks you through creating your business online. AND you’ll get access to the private community to get your questions answered about building your businesses online. It truly is exclusive, and you could BE part of it too (just grab your membership)!
The Secret Ingredient
Now, there’s a secret ingredient to building a community, which is a brilliant business move!
When that ingredient is left out, the community is hard to grow… Add the secret ingredient and your community will flourish & grow!
What’s that secret ingredient to building a community?
BE Human.
Yep. It’s that simple.
For instance, the more relatable you are as a human to the Tribe, the more they will feel like they are in the right place.
Sharing your weakness, your pain, and YOUR questions…
Allowing the community to grow with you, the guide, grows the bond. In other words, the faster you can grow your bond & BE relatable, the faster your community will grow too.
People want to BE part of something that’s bigger than them!
Just like we love being part of the BEAP Tribe because the Tribe is bigger than just Erin & I! It’s filled with people from all walks of life who all believe that it’s possible to BE Where You Want, When You Want, Together, With Your Online Business.
The BEAP Tribe & eCourse Library is not just for couples… Principles taught here can be used by anyone wanting to learn what we did to BEcome location independent. We’d love to have you in the community!
In Conclusion
Building a community is a brilliant business move. If you’re wanting to grow a business online (or offline) you need people. You don’t have to build a huge community as Apple has over the years… Most importantly, it just goes to show, something that is simple, solves a problem and is a common thread that people can lock arms around, could be that thing that starts the next movement.
Until Next Time!
