Black Friday Cyber Monday! Wow! What you may not know about these two shopping days is going to drop your jaw. Have you ever gone to Run With The Bulls in Pamplona, Spain? Well, you practically have if you are in the front of the line at a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale!

There you are! You caught word of a “Great Deal” that is ONLY going to be had for the first 29 people who get through the door.

You brace yourself as you hear the latch to the lock click on the door to your favorite store. There’s hundreds of people behind you, but considering you are the first in line, you are sure to get your deal.

As soon as you hear that latch hit, you, along with the hundreds of others behind you, push so hard that the doors fly open, knocking the unlocking clerk unconscious, and trampled.

The Holiday’s Are Finally Here!!!! Joy To The World!

Luckily, you escaped with one broken rib, a black eye, and you were wearing a cup, so your nuts didn’t get smashed.

All of this so that you can get that 65″ TV that only the first 29 people through the door will get to buy for the amazing reduced price of $497.00 (normal selling price, $527.00).

Wow! You got the “DEAL!”

Funny how materialistic this world has become. The price we place on “THINGS” and our insatiable appetite to consume has driven us crazy, and is impacting the environment in a BIG way.

Manufactured Scarcity

Also called, “Artificial Scarcity” is where a good or service is USUALLY plentiful, but is in high demand because of limited production and planned obsolescence.

By limiting the production of goods or services, this causes fear of loss in individuals. This is an INGENIOUS marketing technique because consumers are focused on consuming, rather than appreciating what they have. This triggers a survival instinct in nearly all of us.

Planned obsolescence is a technique where a company plans on continuing to produce a product or service but tells the public that there are only so many items that are going to be put out at a certain time. If it is something new, unique, or useful, this drives people crazy! They end up camping out at stores for things like the newest iPhone or the Tickle Me Elmo. (Remember that insanity?!)

This is exactly what the corporations want & need because it drives more money into their coffers.

This manufactured scarcity is exactly what people have bought into, and nearly all of us have been guilty at one time or another. We are lead to believe that we will never get another chance to have this thing again not realizing that these products will be available in the future for the same sale price, and that it is all a LIE!

If you didn’t know this, don’t beat yourself up because corporations are training all of us with their sneaky ways to create “NEED” by consumers.

BUT, we are here to let you in on Secrets that Industry does not want you to know.

Now You Know!

The things you will read here on the BEAP Blog, are meant to empower you in making decisions that enrich your life and give you knowledge that helps you live a better life.

We all get to choose the role we want to plan in a greater movement and our communities. When we choose to be less materialistic and focuses on taking care of ourselves, we are better equipped to contribute to those around us.

That’s why in the BEAP Tribe we share how to build a business from your idea, and always encourage people to do their research so they make the most positive impact possible in this world.

Create something that has little to zero impact environmentally.  Don’t use scarcity tactics, and then the next week magically have more stock on the shelf. Make products that actually last! BE an ethical business owner.

If we all band together & start creating more positive businesses, we can certainly change how the world consumes things.

Brian Garcia + Erin Nicole Bick

Hey, we're Brian + Erin. Currently, we're workin' on our bug out bus. Lucky the proverbial $hit hadn't hit the fan yet when we picked up this 40-foot beauty in Phoenix AZ and drove it up to Canada to convert it. Hopefully, we all still have time...

Honestly, this bus conversion has been the only sane thing in this insane world lately. We can't tell you how good it feels to BE working on something that lights our souls up and has such potential for a life that is entwined with nature, love, and happiness.

Our main goal is to inspire people to get off-grid and become self-reliant. We are well on our way and are super excited to talk about solutions with others who are shooting for a similar way of living.

Did This Blog Post Help You? If so, we would greatly appreciate it if you comment below and share it with a friend.

I am not a Black Friday person! It feeds into our very worst behavior all centered around getting a discount on a material thing. Right after they day we are grateful for people and our good fortune. Adventure on! 8)

Awesome, Kenneth! I’m glad there are more people like us who do not participate in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday “deals” (especially after the day to give Thanks!).

I agree! I don’t feel the need to “wait” for a good deal, because as I need something for my Adventures, I go and get whatever it is I need. Thanks for reading, Hrvoje!

Great breakdown of what Black Friday and Cyber Monday are.

Here’s the thing – there’s “manufactured scarcity” on those days, but throughout the entire Holiday season, the discounts get steeper and steeper, but there’s not as much promotion…

Plus, those deep discounts are on having too much old inventory on hand…

Old inventory! Yes! A lot of times, it is last year’s model, or something that is going to be discontinued because it was a poor performer in the economy, which makes it a great deal once you tag it with “Black Friday” or “Cyber Monday” 🙂 Thanks for reading, Dr. Lisa!

“Manufactured Scarcity.” Yup. A much better alternative is to follow your own inner calling. Takes some training to do so, but man is it worth it! Rock on, Brian and Erin!

So much truth in the commercialism, creating scarcity, etc – and important to wear a cup, hahaha! Life is DEFINITELY about people & experiences, not “stuff.” Thanks for the reminder!

Yes, Chondra! We enjoy experiences and meeting new friends, globally, over collecting stuff. This is one of the reasons why we travel so much… for experiences! Thanks for reading, Friend!

Great post. Black Friday just doesn’t make sense because people trample others for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.

Exactly, Loetta! That just goes to show that the majority of people are NOT thankful for what they have. Thanks for reading!
