Why would you want to share your message with the world?

Years into my Hairstyling career I started to feel the weight of the people’s problems who sat in my chair. So many of them talking about hating their jobs, their bodies, their relationships, their financial situations, the city, and so on… The more I heard the more I felt it too. I realized how depressed I was, and noticed that my addictions to drugs, alcohol, shopping, and crappy relationships had taken over. I was going in a downward spiral and attracting these conversations to me each day.

The glamorous city life that I once loved was starting to wear me down. I realized how judgmental I had become, comparing myself to everyone around me. I felt like I could never look “good enough”, so I would spend hundreds of dollars each week on eyelash extensions, manicures, tanning beds, and new clothes to get ready for the party next weekend. I was working out obsessively, beating myself to a pulp, eating very little, then binge eating to make up for the meals I missed. Things were getting nasty as I felt the rat race to be the best swallowing me whole.

BE inspired by other’s beliefs & actions at first if you need to…

After I realized what was going wrong in my life, I was able to see how I could change it. Thank goodness for Personal Development. I had been on my PD journey for several years, but the shift happened when I decided I wanted to create a business online around self-love. That really inspired me to get my a$$ in gear and make the changes I needed to make to feel healthy in my mind, body, & soul. How could I help others love themselves, and create a life they love if I didn’t live that way?

I knew that I could BE happy & love myself because of the Personal Development community I was mingling with online. If these people could get over their addictions that kept them stuck for decades, build wildly successful businesses online, and create their dream lives then I could too! AND if they could teach it… Then why couldn’t I?

The message you feel you need to share with the world matters…

I used to think what I had to say didn’t matter, but when I started making the shift into a healthier, happier version of me… I couldn’t contain myself. I had to share my thoughts with the world, so I started a blog. Prior to the blog my business did nothing (which is a story for another day), but get this… When I started telling people the truth about what I had been through, I started getting emails, and messages on social media thanking me for sharing my story. Both men & women were relating to my struggles and thanking me for inspiring them to make a change in their lives too. I couldn’t believe it.

So what inspires you?

It could be anything! It doesn’t have to be a challenge you faced. Though… That pain is so real it may inspire you deeply to take a stance for others who are facing it.  It could be an environment or social issue you see in the world that inspires you to speak up, and band together with others to make a positive change! It could also BE art, design, science, technology, language… If you can think it up, you can create a message wrapped around ANY product or service that would help other people live better lives.

I know when I first moved to the Annex in Toronto that I was inspired by everything. The way the cultures melted together, the vibrant graffiti everywhere, live music, cuisine, fashion… You name it. I couldn’t get enough, and all I wanted to do was write & paint.

Though I let the gritty, grimy side of the city get to me… I can’t hold a grudge, because Toronto has made me the woman I am today. Everything about being in Toronto pushed me to evolve & grow. Toronto inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone, and share a message with people who need to hear it most. For that I am grateful. Sharing my story changed my life because it allowed me to BE real & authentic!

I know that Brian is grateful for the past experiences he’s had in the city too. Being a Firefighter in Austin he saw things he wouldn’t wish upon anyone. Violence, poverty, trauma, and terrible health conditions… He saw it all. This inspired him to make changes in his life so he could impact others in a positive way as well. That’s what bonded us, and part of the reason BE Adventure Partners exist… The simple idea of knowing that the lessons we have learned could inspire another to make changes in their lives.

You can turn any crappy situation into inspired action in the opposite direction. It’s a choice we each have the power to make in each moment of every day, as long as there is breath in our lungs. Our choices may never seem perfect, but they are. Every choice leads you to another moment of clarity and gives you a chance to make yet another decision moving you towards the future you want… Or don’t want.

How will you share your message with the world?

When you have a desire to share your message you become unstoppable. Just knowing that what you have to say could change someone else’s life can be enough to take you down a path you never thought you would go down. It could be the thing that pushes you to make big changes in your life, so you can make a greater impact. It can lead you to find your purpose in life.
